Does anybody EVER drive with the smell of gas permeating the cabin? I'm not talking a STRONG smell that may render you dead on the freeway, nut definitely an odor of gasoline. I don't smell it all the time......weird.

I don't see anything leaking that's obvious and I JUST replaced my fuel filter which I KNOW is super tight. It's a 98 Disco I.

Thanks peeps

May sound stupid, but you have gas on your clothes or fingers?

Yeah, I had the entire fuel tank as well as a hose replaced because I had the same gas smell that would go into the cabin. I believe that the tubes that run on top of the fuel tank were screwed, so they had to replace the entire tank. Plus the hose which runs from the fuel filler to the tank had a small crack and was replaced. This was about 2 months ago and I have never had the smell since.

Also, don't get this work done at a dealer. They will rip you off! They wanted like $1200 for the parts and labor. A friend of mine did the work for me at a shop.

I experienced this recently, the cause was due to a Gas station attendant filling my tank past the 1st click on the pump nozzle. Overfilling that tank caused the smell of gas, the smell disappeared after driving a few miles and the gas tank level lowered. Apart from the attendant trying to cram as much gas into my tank to get more $$, there was the potential to flood my charcoal emission canister and cause damage to it. I now try to get gas from self serve gas stations. And have never had the smell of gas since

When I step on the gas pedal, I sometimes smell gas / exhaust coming into the cabin. I try to ignore it and open the windows. Happens to my other car too.

Did you guys maybe trim your exhaust pipe? Could an exhaust that was trimmed and no longer angled down cause exhaust to get trapped under the car easier and vent into the car? Just a though.
