I have searched the archives of this message board regarding tie-down points in the rear cargo area of a Discovery Series I and was wanting to know if any one had pictures of what they did to add/improvise tie-down points.

I've also seen a lot of discussion about pre-drilled holes in the floor of the D1 and was also wondering if anyone had any pictures of them and could give me an approximate location of these pre-drilled holes before I tear the carpet up in the back of mine.

Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff,
Purchase four stock rear tie down for a Disco II. The threaded holes are already in your Disco I. If you have a rear rubber mat the holes will be located under the outside corners of the mat. If you look under the vehicle in the approximate spot you will see what looks like a square nut with a plastic plug in it. Stick a nail up through the hole so you know were to cut the carpet and insulation. Easy to do and they work great.

Thanks Kent.

Found the two in the far back. Looked towards the front of the cargo area and did not see any up there. Are the front holes under the seats or are they still in the cargo area with the seats in the up position?

Thanks,
Jeff

That's good to know about the holes in the rear area. For the front, I just took two small clip-type 'beaners and sorta forced them onto the seat belt anchors. They don't move around freely, but on the other hand, now I have an OK tie-down, and so far they have not got in the way of anything when I fold down the seats. If you look at the seat belt anchor points, you'll know what I'm talking about.

Another question regarding tie-downs in the D1. I went to the dealer in Scottsdale today and asked for a price for the DII tie-downs and the guy said that they came with the vehicle and weren't available. Does anyone have a part number for the DII stock tie-downs?

Thanks,
Jeff
