I have a 97 Disco with no rear air. How hard would it be to install it? Is it worth it? Where does the air come out? Should I just leave it the way it is? |

Not too terrible but damn spendy. I have a rear AC unit (just the unit not the ducts or lines) if you need one. I would let it go for 10% of dealer list. Ron |

Greg If you want it stock looking you would have to change the roof lining, as the air vents are above the rear seats. You would also have to change the left rear panels/cubby holder in the back as that is where the compressor sits. If have 7 seats, you will loose a bit of space as well. ( Main reason I didn't order rear air, and bought a car cover instead so the truck doesn't get that hot in the first place when parked in the sun. Then the normal air can cope fine, at least in California ) Best bet if you "have" to have rear air is finding a wreck and go crazy. Carl |

No.... no compressor in the back, just an evaporator, and a fan, and ducts up into the roof. The evap is obviously fed by pipes from the standard front compressor (with electrically controlled open/closed switch). It occupies the space the left rear cubby normally would, obscures part of the rear side window, and the alpine window. In Saudi we find it a real bonus for rear seat pax, as the air flow from the dash really doesnt cool the back much at all. With ambients of 50c (120F) now, you need it. jp |

If you are looking for more cooling power, I'd like to suggest tinting the windows. The Disco has a ton of glass area, so tinting them will really help a lot. Thanks, Mike B. |
