Which is better timing chain or timing belt. Is the Disco a timing chain or belt. How about the RR. What are the advantages and disadvantages between the two. Thanks

timing chain in both (assuming you mean NAS rovers). regardless of advantages or disadvantages, you don't have many options.

Unless you want to switch to timing gears and pretend you have a blower!

Who knows - maybe Jesel makes a belt drive for the Buick SB that would fit?

Yeah - I'm just throwing out useless info here :)

but why?

the only reason to replace chain with the belt was OHC engines - the chain became way too long to reach up to the head, and needed tensioners and something to suppress vibration and noise. the belt was a nice and easy solution. Lifetime-wise, chain is much more reliable than a rubber belt.

I agree - I was just throwing crap out there for the hell of it as there are other options if someone wanted bad enough to make them fit.

Use a Cloyes double roller, The gear driven ones will work but its noisy and very $$$
