Replace the bulbs. Open rear door, look to left/right and find panel located on inside of each cubby compartment. Use a flathead scredriver or something flat to pop off the little button holding the panel on. There is a screw under the button. The button is there just to hide the screw. Don't pop it all the way off. It has a plastic hinge to keep it from falling once you pop it off. Take panel off. Locate which bulbs need replacing. Turn the plastic piece that holds the bulb counterclockwise and there you have it.

if that was the complete opposite of what you asked i apologize.

I had one of my brake lights go out a couple weeks ago, thought it was the bulb. I pulled the bulb out and it was fine. I noticed that both the bulb and connector had a tiny bit of corrosion, so I polished them up, put the bulb back in and presto!

my $.02

I tried all that All my bulbs work but my question is with the bulb type. Should the bulbs be the single post or double post for the rear brake lights. By "post" I mean the small little posts inside the bulb that light up. Some come with 2 posts for turn signal purposes and others come with one. Any ideas>?

go to AutoZone or a local parts store and ask. I went and told them i needed all the rear bulbs for a 97' Disco and they pulled up the numbers right there.
7506 and 7528 are the numbers.

All I know is those brake light sockets are hard to get out--the rubber seal is in the way!
