I've been using mobil 1 gear oil in my transfer box (95 disco) and since I started using it, I hear weird slapping noises coming from it. I put in a thick oil additive and the noises stopped for a couple weeks and came back. What's a good oil to use in these transfer box? I was thinking of using some redline next time. Any suggestions?

I've used straight 90wt since I bought my '97D1 back in '97. I buy it at Advanced in a 5-gal bucket with a pump. It makes my whole garage stink for days after I use it. I don't even know what true brand it is, so it must be cheap. I see posts like this all of the time about diff noises and I swear, I do not know what these people do to their diffs to make them noisy. I have NEVER had this trouble. Knock on wood, and no offense to anyone. I do not modify my vehicle, I just maintain it according to the schedule. Just a rant.
