I recently bought a new Discovery SE Westminster Edition, and I am looking to put some mods on it: -First - I would like to replace the tires with a more steet tire, that will grip the road better and provide a slightly more aggresive look, so that I can replace the stock 18s with nothing less than 20s. -Second - I am looking into putting in the heated seats but because of the wood trim there is no spot for the buttons and I am not sure if the seats have the pads in them or not. -Third - I would like to get more HP out of the car, hopefully upping the acceleration as well as overall performance. This area I am almost blank on, very few ideas, and would love all suggestions. I hope everyone can get back to me with all your ideas, I appreciate them all. I cant wait to start working on this truck. It also has rock sliders, brush gurad, PIAA HID driving lights. eMail me @ [email protected] |

Heated Seats in a Westminster would be difficult, and may look sloppy. Westminsters weren't available with heated seats, so a replacement anthracite panel wouldn't be available. This means you will have to cut your skateboard to accept the switches. Also, there is a good chance the seats don't have heat pads because the black leather with charcoal piping was only available on the Westminster, and once again, it's not an option to get heated seats. I'm not even going to touch on the performance mods. If that's what you bought your truck for, you bought the wrong truck. |

Thanks Alyssa, I apreciate all of the feedback. I had the same feelings about the seats. I was talking with my local dealer about putting them in and it really didnt seem too logical. I am sure they would do the cuts fine and everything for the switches and be able to put in the pads, but the whole thing makes me very nervous. I know what I bought when I purchased my Westminster and I bought it for specific LR reasons, but of course like people make off road mods, I will not be doing any serious off-roading in the near future so I always like to check out all possibilities. Thanks again |

fwiw.. i just put heated seats in a westminster and it came out very slick. well.. i didnt do it myself, that would have been a nitemare, but we cut the panel and put the switches in. if you dont want to do that you can use the 2 dead switches on the bottom dash switches.. you know, under the fog light switches and the rear wiper switches. but cutting the panel was not that difficult (for the guy who did it).. |

Easy JROV. To each his own. At least he's starting with a great vehicle. Not everyone's into off-raod. It's not what I would do with it, but it's not my money he spent either. Open your mind a little. |

Wow! A street-oriented Discoweb member??? That's rare. I am seriously NOT busting your chops, but why DIDN'T you get a more streat oriented "SUV?" The Disco just isn't made for that, and the X5 is simply amazing on-road. Just don't mix your styles. Nothing sillyer then 20" wheels and street tires, and a big rack and lights on the roof. :-) |
