I would like to put on a cat-back system or just exhaust, does anybody have any suggestions as to what would improve the performance however not creating a rediculous sound. I would like to keep the sound softer for the ride. I was considering a Borla Cat-Back, anybody have any experience? Thanks... |

The Borla is pretty loud compared to stock. I am running the borla on my 97 right now. I like it for the most part except on long trips and sometimes it gets annoying. There are some who like the flowmaster with a custom bent ss exhaust which will probably cost less. |

Thanks Jim that helps a lot. Does the custom bent ss exhaust muffle the sound a bit more than the borla. Also how much HP does an AM cat back provide, in other words does it make much of a difference in the performance?? Also what other things have been done to get a little more out of the truck, Thanks..... |

the custom bent with a flowmaster is quieter than the borla I think. There is little you can do to the motor to get more performance out of it with out spending some money. Supercharger, motor swap 4.6 or 5.2. K&N air filter and freeflow exhaust will help a little not sure it will be noticeable enough for you. Although it will sound a little better. If you are running larger tire say 238 85 16 you should spend your money on a ring and pinion set to get the gearing back closer to stock. You will feel more with that than anything else if you have larger tires. Other than that I think that the borla ho and torque is like 10-15 more hp and about the same in torque. But like I said you will probably be disappointed and expecting more. If you are looking for an exhaust I would probably go with a custom bent ss pipe and a flowmaster 50 which I think is quieter than the borla with about the same gains. |
