I know this has been discussed before - but I couldn't find a straight answer from the archives (maybe there isn't one). I have some spots of rust on the car - aorund the windows mostly. Its a 1997 - I was wondering if this is covered under the 6 year corrosion(?) warranty? Are Land Rover impossible when dealing with this issue? 1 week in to owning a 1997 - loving it .. So many questions though! |

I found some rust around my bay windows of my 96 about a year ago. I took it to the local dealer and without any questions, they fixed it. |

Sit down, this might hurt... It depends on a couple of things. If you have a dealer that's, shall we say, "un-sympathetic", then the short answer is "Yes, IF you can prove it's had its Annual Corrosion Inspection". If you can, (it's a stamp inside your owners manual) then you're home free. If not, start prayin'. I also have a '97, BUT I don't have the original owners manual, so no joy. I have talked to the dealership, the LRNA customer hotline, The LRNA area rep, the Better Business Bureau, and even wrote the president of LRNA. No luck. I could go on and on about this one. I'll get down off my soapbox now... |

Sorry to hear that. I went to Marin Landrover here in San Rafael, Ca. They didn't even check the stamp but I did have my rover serviced there all the time. |

My alpine windows were rusted on my 97. I took it to the dealer...No problems. They are going to fix it AND re-paint the whole top for no charge. Never checked any annual corrosion inspection or anything. |

I had the rust in the rear inside door well on my 96 D1 fixed by my LR Service Center with out a problem. The LRNA rep asked about the annual corrosion inspection but I played dumb and said I guess it's been done because I have it serviced here all the time. Larry |

My experience was similar to that of Ed H. I did not have a specific "Annual Corrosion Inspection", but did have my 1996 Discovery serviced at Aristocrat Motors in Merriam, KS (near Kansas City) on a regular basis. When rust showed up inside the rear door openings, above the rear wheel wells, last year, I asked them what could be done about it. They took it to a local body shop that handles all of their work and had it repaired with no cost to me. |
