Has everyone of you ever fitted one of those tyres on his Disco 1(255/85/16 or 285/75/16)? I run a Disco 1 with HD OME Springs and a 2 inch Bodylift. I also have 4.1:1 gears in it. I think there would be enough space for the tyres and I also think that the ARB front and rear are strong enough but what about the halfshafts in offroad condition an with the lockers on and what about the steering radius. Thanks for your inputs.

I have 255/85/16 tires on stock alloys. OME springs, no body lift. You will have to trim the rear of the rear fenders and relocate the rear axle back about 1 inch on the top of the axle and modify the lower arms to keep the tires away from doors. Spread the lower rear of the front fenders out if you don't want to cut them. In a front compression of both tires, they will hit the fenders. When articulating they will clear the fenders. The turning radius will be reduced as expected, just adjust the turning bumpstops on the axle.
The 4.10 gears are great for 33" tires. Your speedo will only be 5-6% off. I have recently put the tires on so extensive off-roading has not been performed. I have Arb air lockers but not the stronger axles, with plans to put them on sometime soon.
I don't have any experience on the 285/85/16's.
