I own a 2002 Disco 2 and I`m about to buy the OME HD springs (front and rear) and wil be putting on 235/85 MT tires. I have a few questions about the lift before I do it. 1) Will I need to buy longer Brake Hoses? 2) Will I need to do any kind of trimming to fit the 235/85 tires onto my D2 with this lift? 3) Will these tires present any drive train or other problems once they are on? If it helps i`ll be getting all my stuff through EE!! Thanks |

Jeff, We fitted MD springs to Jed Fajardo's DII and it gave it about 1 1/4" lift. the stock shocks are not long enough to work with the springs-they will bottom out (full extension) long before the springs's potential is realized. The Bilsteins are a direct replacement for the stock shocks but the OME shocks gave 1 3/4" longer travel than stock. We did not have any trouble with the brake lines, although I have had some made that are 2" longer in the rear and 1 1/2" longer for the front. You will have to move the ABS sensor wires around so that they do not stretch but are still retained. I think the set of hoses was about $100. As far as tires, we fitted 245/75/16 to Jed's DiscoII. I have 235/85/16 on my Disco I and they are ok. If you would like to do a trial fit of that size before you purchase them, let me know. Stop by and see us sometime! Trevor |

Thanks Trevor. I`ll be stopping by sometime this week and should be giveing you a call soon. I had planned on buying the OME shocks as well. My main concern was the brake lines. May be i`ll have you do the install for me. I`ll shot you a e-mail and stop by to get a price. Thanks again. |

If you are using the stock rims from a DII the 235s will be very narrow. The stock rims on a DI are narrower than a DII, so they fit the 235s better. Alot of people run 245s with no problems, but most tire manufacturers suggest 255 or larger for 8" rims, which are what the DII has (NAS). The 265/75 are about the same height as the 235/85, and will fit the 8" rims nicely. Lots of people run this size with no trimming, but the spare has to be inverted. |

Jeff, I have OME HD springs and shocks with 265/75/16 BFG's. No rubbing problems and no brake line problems. BW |

As anonymous said the 235's are too narrow for the wheels. I would not run anything narrower than the 245's on the Disco II. Depending on what you want in ride height go with either the 245/75 or 265/75's You'll be glad you did. With the OME springs and shocks I ran 245/75's for a while and they were okay but like the "feel" of the 265/75's much better both on and off road. FWIW, I will soon move to 255/85. I'm running 235-85-16 Goodyear MTR's on my 2001 Disco II SE stock 16" rims with no problem at all. They fit the rim just fine. They are a narrower tire. Roughly 1 inch narrower than 265-75, but they will fit the stock DII rims. The look ends up being more of a camel trophy style look with the narrow tires. I think you will be fine going with either 235-85 or 265-75, depending on wether you want the extra 1 inch of rubber. Height wise, The 235-85 is maybe a 1/10 of an inch taller, but not much. I personally like the narrower look, and the goodyears were $40-$50 cheaper per tire for 235-85 vs. 265-75. cheers, Greg |

I've run two different sets of OME springs (761's front and 762's in the rear; then 779's in the front and 763's in the rear) on my D2 with OME shocks and no sway bars and I have never had to do anything to my brake lines. I wouldn't mess with the brake lines until you get the lift on and the sway bars off and take it somewhere and flex the suspension. If it maxes out the brake lines, I'd put the sway bars back on until you get new brake lines. You are definately safe with the sway bars on. There is no way you'll max out the brake lines with the sway bars on. As far as tires go, I would put 265x75's on there first. The 235x85's may fit, but once you start running on rocks, the sidewalls of the 265's will protect the edges of your wheels from getting dinged up so bad. The 235's really shouldn't be on anything wider than a 7" rim. You really can't beat this setup on a D2. It is a perfect fit for the D2. Greg Bright |

Thanks for all the input so far guys. Seems i`ll be going with the 245/75 or the 265/75 then. I`ll be putting the OME 779 springs in the front and the OME 762`s in the rear. Any sugestion on what brand of tire (I live on the east cost so i`ll do more mud and dirt than i would rock crawling). Thanks again. |

First off , scrap the MD springs they are pretty close to worthless. I just sent a set off via ups (destination unknown) that I had on for about three days I think. Have john at EE set you up with the same deal that I put on MVs truck. His ended up a little high in the nose (With my bumper and an RE 12) and he is now putting on 1" spacers in the rear to compensate. The damn thing sits nice and looks very correct with the 265s on there. If you want em put on let me know.... Kyle |

Yeah , I am fairly certain they are... Not sure what part #s we ended up putting on MV's Disco though...... Its pretty common to end up a little nose down if you go "By the book" Kyle |

As far as spare tire mounts, we modified the carrier itself to accomodate the larger tire. It was necessary to remove the carrier from the rear door and elongate the holes. We reassembled the door with rtv silicone to prevent corrosion. The plasma cutter does a nice clean job on the holes but they still need rust protection. |

If you want heavy duty on a D2 go with 751's in the front and 763's in the rear. I know these are very HD but on the D2 they work great. I have the 779's on the front and the nose sits a little low with the 763's in the rear. I have an ARB bumper and no winch and the 779's are already too low. My friend Hadley has 751's on the front and 763's on the rear of his D2 and they are perfectly matched. His sits level with a $G bumper and X9. I'm changing out my 779's with 751's. And before you ask, using these springs makes no difference in articulation on a D2. The radius arms and trailing arms limit travel long before the springs do. Greg |

KYLE, Thanks for the offer to put on my stuff. I`ll be giveing you a call when I get the stuff. Just not sure what to do first. A) Springs, SHocks, Tires and your KVT or B) Recovery straps, shackles, Hi-Lift, Jerry cans, Pelecan case, reciver shackle, Front diff plate. I`m not sure how much you charge for your bumper and my Discos only 3 months old and the tires still look good hehe. Any sugestions???? |

Well , start in slow on it. Get the springs and shocks and all on there and then see where your brain wants ya ta go. The bumper can wait (I aint dead yet) And alot of the other stuff can as well. You want to create a solid platform to build off of without having to go back and redo things that werent done right or go back in the chain and do something you should have done earlier , I hope that makes sense to ya.... Yea I follow what your saying Kyle. Looks as if i`m gonna buy the springs and shocks and also buy a front diff guard and a rear pinion guard. This way i`ve atleast gaining some clearance and getting some protection underneith. I`ll also put on the 265/75 R 16`s. I`ll have to skimp on the recovery gear for now and rely on others but that will only be until the fall. I`ll just have to be careful what I do alone. |
