Greetings, 96 D1. Wipers will not return to their starting point when turned off. Where they stop is random. Checked for loose arms. All connections seem solid. Is the return to zero a function of the wiper motor? Sounds like I need to replace it if it is. I have no problem doing this, just trying to make sure that the problem is in the motor. As usual, thanks for your help. -Mark |

either your motor is shot or your idm pack is shot. If your dome lights fade out ok check the motor. |

There is a switch embedded (like potted) in the motor that controls the return to home function and when this goes the wipers won't park and the intermittant function no longer works because that how it works as well. The part I like best is that you have to buy the entire wiper and arms assembly to fix this. So a perfectly good motor and arms are sitting in a box in my garage because a 50 cent switch failed and cannot be repaired. I just replaced that last month. If you buy this make sure you get the stub wiring harness. The new motors do not have the same connector as the motor in the 97 Disco and this is not clearly indicated in the parts book (so says the parts guy anyway). Luckily I am a short walk from the local LR dealer. -jeff |
