the other day while washing my truck i decided to get all the chunks of mud off the engine..... well water got on the right manifold and C-R-A-C-K there it went!! now my truck sounds like a 66 ford pick up !! lol anyone have any ideas? new one or weld it?

Yea, the guy who owned my disco did a sharp right turn into a lake after a 3 hour tour... I've got his cracked manifold.
You get used to the sound.
I've seen '73 ford pickups with that toothpaste-looking-weld-it-goop on cracked manifolds, but the disco's looks easy enough to replace when I need to do somthing else in there.
I'm budgeting a new manifold (left) into the inevitable exhaust system.

It is bad to drive with a cracked manifold. Grind a bevel into it and drill the ends and weld it. |

A cracked manifold can mess up the O2 balance in your system and rob your engine of performance as well as cause the computer to improperly mix fuel and air.
You want to fix it. Folks have had them welded in some cases with success. If you buy a new one or remove it for welding, you should use all new gaskets. xks.com has a good blow up graphic of all the new gaskets and such you will need.
