Vehicle in question is a '97. The radio still recieves the FM stations. However, it does not get the weather band or AM stations. Has the radio gone south? Maybe a loose connection somewhere? One of the antenna's is going bad? Any suggestions would be grateful! Lastly, if it is the radio what was the name of the thread that said you could rewire the pod mounted controls to an aftermarket radio. Thanks in advance!

I don't think there is more than one antenna. Generally the FM and AM channels on radios use the same antenna. The Weather band is on the 154MHz (or is it 170MHz) range or near there anyway so it's close enough to just use the FM 103MHz antenna. So if you're getting FM stations I would be willing to bet your antenna is okay. Maybe your radio?

It definitely sounds like your radio to me. The antennas on your Disco work together as part of the diversity system on your FM tuner. You can double check all the antenna connections to be sure, especially the two on the rear of the radio.

Thanks for the input guys! Everything looks okay, so it must be the radio. Kind of odd. Anyway, time to start looking into the aftermarket. Thanks again!

I'd try the antenna again first. It does sound like I'd be the antenna. FM signals are strong enough to pull in without an antenna at all, but the antenna's do help. AM signals are much more difficult to pull and REQUIRE a functioning antenna. Not sure about WB but I'd say the same goes for this. So if you have your heart set on a new deck (and I can understand why) go for it, but if your just looking to fix your problem, replace the antenna. It's cheap enough that if it doesn't fix your problem your not out too much dough, and if it does you've saved a nice chunk of change. Good Luck and Get Dirty.

Some times on the duo plug on back the plugs get switched and take your primary feed to the wrong plug. Try switching the two around.

Here's the update. I pulled the whole thing out and one of the antenna jacks was just dangling around. It must have just been touching the radio the first time I checked. Put it back on and it really didn't want to stay on. It is the bottom jack. So, I secured it with electrical tape for the time being. Reception is great with just a little background noise. Very tolerable! Too bad that they aren't like most radio jacks that I've seen. Anyway, other than replacing a portion or all of the wire any ideas on how to keep the jack completely secured? Thanks in advance!

Ps For those of you wondering it took a 2mm allen wrench to loosen the radio up.
