Going to look (again) at a 96 D1. The truck is an SE. Green/Tan- Land Rover Rubber Mats all around, rear ladder, brush bar with IPF 900s and the foglights below. Has 58,000 miles. Dual Roofs. Runs great and just had the ECM replaced by Land Rover. It has had paint work and was involved in a light collision, and according to the owner a branch also fell on the roof so the roof, passenger side, and hood have been repainted. But the job was great and color and texture match. It has new front tires and front Land Rover Seat covers. Leaks a little oil. Transfer case has a little whine to it. Owner has documented all his maitnence and just did most of the 60k service. Can you guys help me price it, at least a ball park. Thanks for your help.

"leaks a little oil"
- sounds like the drivetrain is low on fluids ...I'd stay away from it:) Seriously, from a private party I'd throw out $11-13k. I'd be surprised with that mileage if its less then $11 and at the same rate you dont see many 96s over $13k. Just my off the cuff opinion from reading Auto Traders, no NADA values or anything official.

With all that going on, I would skip it unless it was under 10K by more than a little. Check the for sale section and LRX.com. There are good looking stock 96's and 97's going for 10-13k.

Simon, 1996 DI are about 11 to 15K depending on mileage and condition, you will pay more if it has some toys Prices are based on sales in my area So Cal...

I helped a friend buy cherry 96 DI, fully loaded dual roofs AC rear seats running boards all the other useless crap on it bought a for 16K 6 months ago.

Last week it needed a new steering box. This thing has never seen dirt; it really did belong to an Old Lady. Point is you never know about Rovers.

Sounds like the drive train is low on fluids LOL With a rover its more like the Driveway is full of fluids.

All Rovers about 5 to 6 years will start marking there turf. Hoses all around Oil •••••• coolant for all will about 250 to 300 hundred, plus labor, not hard to change yourself. Look to see where the leaks are. If around the main seals that could be $$$ to fix.

Check to see if it's leaking around the steering box lower arm seal be prepared to spend 350 for a new box plus labor most run about 750 installed...

Transfer case is a bit $$$ about 1500 for a rebuilt plus labor.

Body dings are cool if repaired correctly, just run fast if its a salvage title or the cause was a collision, check carfax.

MY main concern is cancer not just on the outer skin but in the door seams and look at the lower corners also under the hood and in the drive train if and rust outs found run away.

Rust never sleeps on a LR and body parts are very $$$$$

So if you factor all the things that need some TLC you might be better to spend a bit more to get a better condition Rover...

Good Luck with your search
