I have a loud 'pop' noise that occurs when I am turning sharply and/or braking and turning which seems to come from the wheel-well area in the front. Could this be my shocks? Or should I be concerned about something else? I only hear it when going less than 20mph and turning....

Disco 1 or Disco 2?

1995 Disco 1...it's really weird. I just did it only once while I was running errands at lunch. That included lots of stops and turns...but it's not every time. UGH

Its the pan hard rod , tighten it or replace the bushings. Tightening will do it most times.

What's that look like? And where it be?

Another thing it might be is the radius arm bolts.
I had what sounds like the same problem, and tightening down the bolts did the trick.
The radius arms go from the frame (about under the front doors) to the axle, and wrap around the axle in a "C" shape. If you need any other help, e-mail me at [email protected].

Sus, it's the panhard, like Kyle said. The radius arm will feel like something is hitting the floor under your feet when it's loose. The panhard is the bar that runs from the frame to one side of the axle. It's parallel to the ground. It will probably only take about an 1/8th of a turn to tighten it. Recently I have to tighten mine about every week or so.

So...about this panhard rod. Can someone explain to be what it's purpose/use is? I know it's suspension related...does it effect steering? OR am I WAY OFF? And what sort-of tool will I need to tighten it?!
BTW, my Dad was talking about the origination of the Panhard Rod...said he knew someone who drove a Panhard from whence the rod came! :)

It locates the diff housing in the front of the truck and prevents it from moving side to side. You will need two nice long wrenches and some cursing....

Cursing...I know I have that...and the wrenches I can get. Thanks Kyle for your help.
