I realize that there are some cosmetic changes in the 03 Disco (as well as the return of the locking center diff), but I haven't found much on the net or elsewhere regarding the Disco III that's apparently set to debut for the 05 model year. I've seen the blurb on "Land Rover Chronicles.com", but I haven't been able to find much else. Anybody out there with more info?

TIA,
Mark

For what its worth, the USA Disco 3 WILL NOT have the CDL. I forget where I read it at and I think someone else reported the same rumor here a month or so ago. The CDL will only be an option on the over seas modles. Also the first set of Disco 3`s should be out next summer, I believe the Disco IIa is whats comming out in the states in late July/August. I could be wrong.

The rumor from my dealer is that the next incarnation of the Disco will be longer, in order to provide a "legitimate" third row of seats. Filling a hole in the current product line. Thus giving us even less clearance, Clarence.

IFS, IRS is the plan for the D3. It is going to be a sad day for the offroad world when not even Land Rover will have a solid axle in the lineup.

It seems that there is a tremendous amount of speculative knowledge on the D3. Does anyone have any facts or can point to any articles?

Thanks,

Curtis

I heard the Disco IV will be jet turbine powered with vectored thrust capabilities, negating the need for a solid axle. When you get stuck, you just vector the thrust downwards and blow your self out of the hole.

Not that this is a new Idea, the Marines have been doing this for years with the AV8 Harrier Jump Jet (Incidentally, another British Concept Vehicle).

What landrover needs to do is ship over some of their td5 or 300tdi in the disco that would make me happy mostly if it was legal in CA. I want a diesel so bad, to bad it isn't street legal in CA.

He's got a 50% chance of making it, but only a 10 percent chance of that.

Here's a link to Land Rover Chronicles - the only info I've been able to find about the Disco III. It's pretty interesting stuff. I believe it will have IFS and IRS, but I think it will retain a traditional body on frame approach (as opposed to a unibody) as this is what I've been told that the next Defender will be like.

Incidentally, ever been in a Turkish prison?
