I have a 95 disco w/ 108k miles on the original clutch. Do I need to replace just the clutch or both the clutch and presure plate?

Also, do I have any options as far as clutches go?

Neil,
You wont know about the P Plate until you pull it. Consider it like a brake rotor it gets Scored, Hot spots also small hairline cracks. If all looks normal and no hot spots or cracks it can be surfaced. Not sure how much meat is on the rovers if its like the rotors not much there to play with. I have been lucky enough never to have done a clutch on a Rover the last one I did was a Porches 944, what a PIA that was...

To answer your question as much trouble as it is to drop a new clutch I would replace all that goes into it...

I am not sure about aftermarket clutches for Rovers look in some of the UK trade mag's it would be nice if CenterForce make them I looked on there site no listing...

Don't forget the pilot bearing. I changed a clutch (well more than once but I only forgot the bearing once) once on a Suburu Brat and didn't bother with the pilot. A few hundred miles later it welded itself to both the flywheel and the trans input shaft. It is pretty scary to push down on the clutch pedal and nothing gets disconnected!

I had to turn it off at red lights and start it in first. Oh yeah, you didn't think I'd quit driving it for a small problem like that?? :)

Borg and beck I believe is OEM. Ashcroft whom I believe Dee and Nathan can get stuff from has good deals on them.

My understanding is that a 130 clutch will fit a disco (or more importantly my D110 300TDi R380). I have been trying to buy one but no one wants to sell me one sooooooo maybe I will break down and buy the normal one.

Thanks Dee, Jeff and Ron.

Since the 3.9 is a buick design, I was thinking there were GM options.

Dee, do you have a ball-park on price?

but your trans is a rover design. I am sure you can get some performance clutchs as the R380 is used in Morgans.
