Has anyone used or heard any useful information regarding this stuff. I know it's no miracle juice, but I have heard some personal testimony, and even if you get a small fraction of protection, it may be worth it.

I have a buddy that is a certified mechanic for BMW, and is on a local BMW racing team as a crew member. They got bored one day and tried to replicate the commercial where all the oil is drained and the engine is ran, even with no oil pan. On the commercial, the engine keeps running, even when they pour sand into the crankcase.

My buddy and his colleagues did this with TWO engines. One with and one without Prolong. Believe it or not, the protected engine ran for a LONG time!!

And he is a person who absolutely detests all the infomercial stuff, and doesn't believe any of that additive stuff. He was actually impressed.

I wish I could have been there to see it with my own eyes, but he's on the east coast and I'm here in Cali.

Anyways, just some extra insight.

Ok. Next time I plan on running my engine without oil, I will definately add some prolong first!

we did it with a junker(2.3 litre ford escort) back a few years ago, we field beat it for almost an hour before a rod knock.

it was an entertaining hour

ROFLMAO!!!

Hear that? Rip out your oil cooler and add some prolong. You'll now have room for an ARB air compressor or maybe another battery. Just be sure you update your AAA membership.

What did the dealer race? And what BMW dealer is this?

This subject header is SUCH troll bait. Almost as bad as my all-time fav, the "Hot Shifter!" thread. To everyone's credit (except mine), all the replies have been made straight-faced.

What's wrong with the "hot shifter" thread? When I first got my Disco, I thought the d*mn thing was going to burn my car down. 2 trips to the local ER with 3rd degree burns around my fingers was enough to teach me a lesson (never works the first time around). I thought the hot shifter was due to the dork PO pouring Prolong in the ••••••; later, you guys steered me straight.
And why the heck is t-r-a-n-n-y showing up in red? Another Lucas quirk?

It's not that the thread was not useful Jason, it's that the subject line sounded troll-y. It was just funny, nothing more. Well, until things took an ugly turn and folks started posting messages about frying bacon on the shifter, etc. Of all the things said on this bb, that bacon comment actually made somebody mad, LOL!
