I fitted OME shocks and springs about 6-7 months ago. Since then they have settled causing the passenger side to settle 25mm(1") lower than the drivers.

I had read prior to buying the set that this happened, not realizing the extent of the difference from side to side. I will be making spacers to even out the vehicle, but is 25mm about normal or is there something wrong? If it is "normal" then why?

Jon, dont feel bad, mine are 10 months old and all four shocks are blown and they(ARB) cant figure why.

Well, if you saw how much shorter the PS springs are compared to the DS, you'd see why. As time goes, the lean seems to get worse.

I just ended up replacing my springs with matching sides. That seems to have leveled me out.

OME makes Polly Trim Packer in 2 diffent sizes to adjust the rear spring sag. In other words to compensate for weak springs. I have 5 coil sprung vehicles and the LR is the only one that sags..

Those fit in between the rear perch and the spring. I am not too keen on that idea also if your spring is not retained and you drop out say bye bye to the packer.

I play musical springs every 6 months i swap the left to right in a few more years ill have a lowrider.

If needed I am sure EE still has some packers.

I like the way EE sell's there OME springs they match them so the rears are the same and the fronts are the same height.

Dam whats that boy doing sending customers elsewhere. I watched miricle on 34th street last night...

"I like the way EE sell's there OME springs they match them so the rears are the same and the fronts are the same height. "

So EE sells the OME springs differently then others? I noticed that I got 2 DS(Driver side) springs in my kit, but thought that was just the way they came...

I am not sure about the other's. I don't but I don't sell OME stuff any more. I believe John at RTE springs are the same height left to right

Not sure about how the Bearmach Big Blues are.

Matching in regard to this topic means they keep the fronts the same height and the rears the same height. Good idea in my book

I was never sold on the theory why there shorter on one side, to compensate for the drivers weight?

My springs are about 5 years old so its time to change them out, they started out on a 88 RR.

As soon as I can I will probably go with a set of RTE

When I was looking into buying the set up, I noticed that EE matched their springs. I just thought that the manufacturer would know best.

Now I know better.

I've seen the OME spacers, and like Dee said they aren't secured very well. I am planning on making some from Aluminium that will be bolted under the bottom spring plate. The only thing is whether or not the springs will continue to settle.

The stock springs are wound to minimal weighting loads due to cost of mat'l saved over 1000's of spring sets manufactured. This brings into play the drivers weights, the offset weights of TC case and slight motor offset. So to get a new truck to sit level with similar axle spring weights the springs are made slightly different in height. Even with the heavier rated after market springs I have noticed, like on my truck, I can take off my spare and the DS front noses down 3/8" but sits level with spare mounted. Slight differences in how we load the truck with all the things we attach in them also moves it around quite a bit, I think its because these discos are a higher C of G top heavy box so the weight loads we add have more noticable effect than a low to the ground Camero. All this is only a theory on my part I must say and certainly unproven. I do not know why the OME follows suit with the PS/DS heights different esp. in the higher weight rated springs unless they are following the LR'er tradition, but overall matching them to similar heights certainly seems to work better

Mike,

I am going back to my true passion and hobby metal working, Being a Retired Machinist Us Navy I miss it. I need that contrast from my day Job sitting around all day baby sitting user's and servers.

I also discovered that sourcing repair parts is not really my thing, I like hands on work building my own line of products.

And most definitely I will primarily build products for the Land Rover enthusiast; I cant bring myself to making parts for Jeep's or Toys at this time

First product out are my diff guards I have posted, many more ideas and products too come
