HAs anyone found any aftermarket options for clutches for the Discovery? I'm about to replace with an OEM for lack of a better option. Anyone have a line on any higher grade replacements, or cross references to a GM Centerforce Application that works (long shot that the disk'd splines would match the R380s). Anyone??

I put an aftermarket clutch in -- can't think of the brand name, but I got it from Atlantic British. But after 20,000 miles of admittedly hard driving in town and off road with a 4.6, I'm getting noise when the clutch is released in neutral and a fair amount of judder in 1st, especially at low rpm. So, I'd say the factory clutch is probably better than this particular aftermarket clutch. However, when this thing finally dies, I'd like to put in the beefiest clutch I can find -- maybe the Defender people know which one's the best.

How many miles did you get out of the original clutch?

You have to be carefull with heavier plates in a truck with a Hydraulic clutch. It cause premature failure of the master and slave....

Norm, Did you replace the pressure plate and the throw-out bearing as well?

Our throw bearing is what actually gave out.We just replaced everything while we were in there.
Norm are you going to replace with genuine when the time comes?

My wife drove the truck for the first 43K miles like a Lamborghini in town and managed to fry the motor and mangle the synchos in 2nd and 3rd. When the motor was replaced, the clutch plate looked pretty well fried (although it was not slipping), so I put in a complete after market clutch assy. from Atlantic British.

I will probably go back with the OEM clutch when this one gives up the ghost (it is not slipping, just noisy and juttery) unless someone knows of a better one on the market.
