Has anybody else out there had problems with their windshield cracking from behind the rear view mirror? It has happened twice to me on my 95 D1. The truck has never been in an accident and I take it slow and easy when off-roading. Everything is straight on the truck. I am just wondering if the mirror is in a bad place and flicking the dimmer is enough to cause it to crack. Murray |

Murray, My 94 is cracked there too, but I haven't gotten around to fixing it yet. My brother's 96 cracked there as well, and his mirror literally fell off in his hand while adjusting it. Must be some sort of weight/leverage flaw... Chuckster |

Thanks - you make me feel a hell of alot better. Mine cracks and when I take it to the car wash to remove the mud, it spreads across the whole windshield. I will just have to be a bit more careful. Murray |

Are your mirrors attached with the factory-supplied adhesive pad, rather than being super-glued on like most windshield shops will do? I've heard that a super-glued mirror will crack the windshield for whatever reason. |

mine broke there also. The mirror was glued on directly- not with a pad |

mine broke ther twice and another place once and my friend's broke twice but not in that place. I heard it was due to frame flex? |

I used to have this problem with my Blazer. in that case, it was definitely due to frame flex and my having bent the frame off-road. I'm surprised and disappointed to hear the same thing is happening to others due to this cause as this was one of the main reasons I bought the Rover. In seven years and 167K miles, I put four windshields in my Blazer and it needed another when it was sold on. |

The mirror was glued directly on the windshield ... I think that had a lot to do with it. Thanks for the tip Anon. Now to see if they will warranty it ... dear Santa. Murray |

I've been through the same pain with this problem. The mirror fell off one very hot day and I used one of those glue kits. The screen cracked behind the mirror the very next day. Different rates of expansion between the glass and the aluminium mirror mount I'm thinking. A new screen and the Rover supplied sticky foam pad solved the problem. Cheers, Andrew |

Sticky pad keeps failing, keep getting new, follow directions, week later, mirror falls off. Got a glue on mirror at pep boys and so far (6 months) it's fine...no crack. |
