Had service done on my '96 Disco, and I have found that my was WAY over full. How much fluid do you guys normally add to your after just pulling the drain plug. I obviously can't keep track of how much comes out and replace....... |

Make sure when you check your transmission fluid..to have your Disco running. It should be checked when the car is on. If that's not it then I do not know but hope it helps. |

Is changing the transmission fluid as easy as changing the oil. do you just drain it and then add fluid? where exactly is the drain plug? |

My workshop manual states that an auto box needs 19.2 pints, or 9.1 litres. If my memory serves me right, 19.2 pints is the equivalent 9.6 quarts. I just drained my fluid and proceeded to fill it with synthetic ATF. At 8.5 quarts, it started to leak like crazy. After letting it spill the excess, I turned on the engine, checked the fluid and it was just a tad over the "max". When I do this again, I will stop at 6 quarts, then progressively add fluid in 8oz increments until the dipstick is right on the button. FWIW, YMMV Javier '94 Disco |

Mine 95 Auto takes 3.5 qts after a "plug" drain. Try measuring the old oil in a paint can. Put that amount back and don not add more until hot and have shifted P, R, D several times and measure in P. |
