I ran a set of Cooper OTD mud tires for a while. I loved them, but they were noisy and the tread didn't last very long at all.

That said, the rubber of the ATs or the STs are likely much different.

i have the futuras as well and they are a great mud tire for the price...great grip in mud as well as other conditions and fairly decent ride on the freeway...

So far there hasn't been any money shown - check out 235/85-16 Interco trxus mt for U$100. plus or minus at your local tire store or on-line.

did someone say white trash? haha. i have had 2 sets of the cooper discoverer s/t's and really like them. very quiet, good wearing and have done me well in the situations i have been in. that and they have white outline letters on one side!!!!!!! futuras are a good choice too from what i have heard and yes cooper makes them.
currently i have the 265/75 16's. i dig em.

the futuras are 89.00 dollars..thats a great deal and come to think of it the tires have performed marvelously for me..there where times in baja when i thought the "road" i was on was going to shred my tires..but the futuras held strong.

ive putthousands of all kinds of miles on them and they still have lots of tread and still ride nice on road. check them out

How are the Futuras in regards to noise? Right now, the noise from my adv. rack is enough!

I run Cooper STT as my MT, sure there is some noise but what MT doesn't Haven't had cause to complain about them.
At $94 each (750R 16) they were alot cheaper than BFG's - lets face it most of these MT will get ruined long before they wear out

wes, surprisingly not to bad..just make sure to not over inflate. I would say you will gain some noise, but nothing noticeable to the untrained ear. You do not have to yell to have conversations and with the noise from your rack you wont even notice it.

FWIW Cooper STT 235 is load range E
750 R 16 is D, with a far better ride and more quishability off road

Futuras are made by Cooper. They are just rebranded for Pep Boys. Pep Boys discount them heavily to get you in the store. You can get a set of 235/85/16 Enforcers for less than $100 each, I have been running them for about a year now. It's one of the best bargains around.

What about the other "bargin" tires out there? Kuhmo makes a few, and I hear good things about Auroras (made by either Michelin or Uniroyal?).

Another vote here for the Futuras. I have been very pleased with them on road and off. I would definitely recommend them.

235/85-16

Here's the tire I was talking about... Kumho Venture MT.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Kumho&tireModel=Venture+MT#Survey

At $86 each for 235/85-16, they seem like a bargain. Kumho has a solid rep for their street car tires and I would expect that would extend to their off-road truck tires as well. Looks like a good tread (going forward and reverse). Load rated E... not sure what that means exactly though. (newbie)
