Hello everyone, I have a question about towing trailers on my 1999 Disco I. My brother-in-law wants me to help him tow his modified 1993 MR2 on a trailer from my area in Queens to his house out in the middle of Long Island, which is about a 30 mile drive. Is that possible and if so how fast can I go with the extra load (obviously not above 55 or 60)? I think I read correctly that the total lbs a Disco I can tow is aprox 7,000?. If anyone has any insight into this i'd really appreciate it before I actually rent that UHaul trailer and try my luck. Thanks in advance for all your help and suggestions. JJ Fulay |

The Disco II has a 5,500 tow rating if the trailer is equipted with brakes. And 7,500#'s if driving in low range. I would think the Disco 1 would be close to this. Even at 5,500 pounds as your working limit you should be okay towing the MR2 if the trailer and car didn't go over that weight. Also don't forget to keep the load in your Disco down. I don't know what the CGVWR is. |
