Anybody have a problem with a stuck hood ???

I pull the hood release from inside and it will not open . I had to pry the thing up with a crow bar , and I noticed there is no spring , the problem is I never noticed where it went before , if anyone can tell me I'd like to try and pick up a similar one from a wrecker . I don't know the size of location so any pictures or details would be helpfull .
thanks in advance.

You pried your hood open with a crow bar? Mine has stuck before, just had a friend up front while I was pulling hard as I could on the release to pull up on the hood. That has happened 2 or 3 times. A crow bar? Holy crap batman.

A CROW BAR? What the frig. Is that the same technique you would use if the door lock was frozen?

The hood release cable has stretched beyond repair. My Disco2 cable has been replaced twice under warranty. The field fix is to use pliars on the cable at the interior lever...and pull that %#@* cable for all your worth.

Yeah a little overkill I know, but would anyone mind looking under thier hood and telling me where the spring fits ? I think it's supposed to go over the small shaft at the top centre of the hood , but I don't know for sure . If anyone can confirm that would be great.

Thanks

There are two springs, one that lifts the hood to contact the release clasp, via in-cab operation. This one is large, and mounted perpendicular to the hood plane, and on the left of the clasp assembly.

The other is small, and has arms, it is mounted around the release clasp hinge, and allows the release clasp to move back to the locked position after you actuate it from under the hood lip.

Kennith

PS you owe me a damn beer. I got up off my ass at 140 AM for this. :) J/K
