One of the first mods i'd like to do is put on a pair of rocksliders. One of the reasons is the protection they add, the other is for my wife to be able to get into the Disco better. She's only 5', well she say's 5'1, and uses the plastic trim piece to get in sometimes. I REALLY don't want to get running boards for it, so i can kill two birds with one stone with Sliders. So, what ones should i look at. I like hte Trek Outfitters and RoverTym so far. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Z

Rovertym offers a slider that doubles as a step. It protrudes from the truck about 4" so the wife can get into the truck easier. The step part also offers the side of the truck extra protection.

I like the Rockware, but does their sliders have a "step"?

If this is for a Disco II I don't think Rockware makes them for that truck. One asside on the step built into sliders is that it adds rotational forces to the sill. I ordered mine from Rovertym without the 4" side lip.

I'd go Rovertym with or without the step - either will give your wife something other than plastic to step on.

Has anyone had any experience with Rockware's frame sliders? I'm sick of sliding along on my frame and hanging up on that damn trailing arm forward mount...

Oops, sorry, it's for a 99 D1.

Thanks for the input.

On my way to North Carolina Today, I stopped by Rovertym and purchased a set of sliders for the DII. I am very impressed with the manufacture and installation of this product.

Jason, I have your DI parts with me and will bring up on my return trip to Philly.

I have the RTE sliders with nerf bars and they have worked really well. I like the nerf bars as they help to keep the lower doors away from roots etc. It looks like the lastest version of RTE sliders are more reinforced to help prevent twisting. Regardless any body mounted slider on 6000lb vehicle has to be treated with care.

Blue, I've been wanting a set of the frame sliders for some time and might end up with a clunky home-made job. My passenger side frame ear is bent and really could do with protection.

Here is a good advertisement for frame sliders. You can see the lower portion of the root where previously the D90 was caught. I think we maneuvered once again and then gently winched him off the root.

nice Ho, tanks vewy much. Is RW still asking $300?

I can't tell you how many rocks I've shaved with that hangup point. I need to beat those mounts back to shape and protect them before shit starts cracking.

Oh ... hmmm.

Now I want to run out and look under ricky and see if all is okay (I'm thinking of one particularly hard scrape and clunk). LOL ...

Kim :)
...will Kim actually find what she's looking for? .. and, will Ho ever be spotted in action on the trail again?

stay tuned ...

Once again, I am drooling over those frame sliders. It looks like he cleaned up the lines compared to the old style. Does it wrap all the way around to the other side and 'cup' the frame or are they L shaped? That is a great design.

By the way, that pic above was taken after 1 yr of trail abuse. The fact that you see no scratches is a testament to Ho's driving skills :)
