I know this goes against almost everythinkg i've ever said about dealers (I usually refer to them as stealers) but I dropped off my 99 D1 to get the front Sunroof fixed (it was just missing a nut and was rattling) and the basically replaced both sunroofs. Ok, replace what you want, it was just missing a nut. I also told him that it was leaning to towards the passanger side a little. So they replaced the coils all around. Cool, free new coils. I call this morning to see when i can pick up my baby, and the service guy says he'll call me in the afternoon when they finish putting in the new coils. So the phone just rang and the service guy tells me that when the tech was driving our Disco out of the garage he noticed the steering was a bit more difficult to turn than it should be. They pull it back in, try to bleed the power steering lines, and decide it needs a new power steering pump. Ok. He appologizes for the long time it is taking to fix everything. WHat do i care, they gave me a brand new 02 Disco to abuse, i mean use for now. I like my D1 better, but heck, i don't mind. Justhad to share. |

You won't feel the same way about all that extra fixin' when your warranty runs out........Get yourself a gallon jar of KY Jelly. Why they call it "Jelly", I don't know. Should change the name to Jam, as that is what it seems to be used for ;) |

Paul, have the dealer run the vin # to find out about your warranty... Zak, you sure they're not going to charge you for all that stuff? It just sounds too good to be true...and who is this good dealer??? |

I brought my 96 DI out to the dealer about a week ago to have the check engine light diagnosed. I had never taken my truck there before because I like to do the work, my mother did buy hers there though. Anyway the warranty on the truck has been expired for some years now. I am expecting something bad and they call me and say it needs a new ECM and it will be replaced free of charge under some 8 year/80,000 mile warranty. I was pretty happy not having to pay the close to $3000 repair bill. Matt |

Lemmie just say, the Land Rover dealership in Las Vegas, NV was the best experience w/ any dealership for any car company, ever. I was on vacation there in Vegas when my Disco I started acting up on me, and I took it in to them to take a gander. The technician and service manager came out and popped the hood, looked around, poked a couple of things and fixed the problem for free. Wow... |

AC cutting off, Help!!! A few days ago, I had run my AC on number 4. The master switch LED would cut off for about 2 seconds then comes back on, acting as intermittence. I can hear a flicking noise (Like Relays)as this happens. I switch the fan to 2 and 3, seemed to work find. This happens only on 4. Is this norm for Discos? Mine is 96 SE 4.0 |

I was told all of the repairs are under warrenty. All i have to pay is $5 surcharge plus gas if i don't refill the loaner with gas upon picking up my truck. It's Princeton Land Rover. For the most part I've had a very pleasurable experience with most LRNA dealers, I really like Princeton's and Main Line was great we as well. I'm not crazy about another dealer, but you'll have to ask Alyssa about that one!! While they have it, what else should i see if they will replace? |

I bought my Disco I used but still under warranty. The dealer (Denver East) is the best dealership I ever encountered. You ask they fix, so I wanted to see how far they would go. I told them that the wood trim looked like it was clouding (somewhat true), next thing I know they replace all the wood trim ($1800) for free. My warranty expires Aug. and they are probably waiting to recap their generosity. I need to find a good mechanic! |

I had a similar experience with Plaza Motors in St. Louis. I had a few minor concerns like a broken visor mirror, and they did over $3k in work. That was under warranty. 3 weeks later I had a ticking noise under the hood. I took it in, no warranty, and they tried to shove it up my ass! (without KY "jam") They also tried to sell me a warranty for about $2k! I called Nathan, spent about $1k and all is well! Just my .02 Chad |

My dealer, Dimmitt, has always fixed items that I never knew existed, of course while under warranty. Now I thought the premise of this post was why they go beyond fixing your identified problems. I am sure they have their own agendas for service loyalty and of course, it generates revenue for the dealer whenever anything is fixed, regardless who pays the bill. Now that I am not under warranty, when I am forced into the dealership for whatever reason, they always bring me a list of items when they find things and of course this turns into my weekend activities list along with the honey-do list, but biggest problem is the decision of which list gets the most attention while being able to balance happy Rover with happy Wife. When momma aint happy nobody is happy, but when Rover aint happy, Dad not happy. What a dilemma! |

My main reason for posting this is that this is the first time i've ever had a dealer go a little out of their way to fix things, under warrenty. ususally they just give me a hard time and tell me that basically if it's not broken, they won't fix it. And i get screwed because after the warrenty expires, it always breaks. I just got the truck back, and they also replace the front shocks, and the serpentine belt as well. |

Just got my truck back after taking it in for: Loss of power-lr conclusion-everything normal-still drives like a yugo on crack. Loss of A/C-lr conclusion-evrything normal-drove out of the dealership and it stopped cooling again. Front driver's shock blown-lr conclusion-operating witin normal parameters-still have horrible bottoming out, vibrations, and steering wheel shake and yes I've had every alligning and balancing thing that can be done. When my warranty runs out, I guess these will need replacing at my cost! |

Zak Land Rover Princeton is great, I've never had any problems with them. One bit of advice, bring your truck in for servicing just befor the warrenty runs out that way if there is something expensive in need of replacing it would be covered under the warrenty. Larry |

Just for grins, can you crawl under and check your steering dampner (shock mounted horizontal just behind your diff)? It too can cause the same steering problems (with the exception of bottoming out). It can be removed in about 5 minutes. Just pull off one side and compress and expand it like a regular shock. If it does not provide even resistance both in and out, then it is probably bad. It costs less than $50.00 to replace it yourself (parts, not labor). I like the OME one, but NAPA sells a compatible one as well (search the archives for a part number). Thanks, Mike B. |
