that black mat under the hood, i have no clue what its called.

anyway It was dirty and muddy and i took it off and had the idea to wash it
when i let it dry for a little bit i put it back on and it sags in the middle and touches the engine
will it go back to the way it was or do i need to take it off and let it dry
or have i ruined it

also if i take it off will it be ok to drive with it off for tonite, just a little cruising to show of that my ride is back

thanks

Blake,
Mat is basically sound proofing. Took mine off of the RR so the hood acts as a heat sink and disipates the heat better. I threw mine away.

Hey Blake, what the He*& where you thinking? Just messing with ya man. That mat serves as insulation for the hood. I imagine that it could bubble the paint if hot enough, but I'm almost in the same boat as you as I'm a retard. Anyhow, my reply has actually nothing to do with your posting, do you want to come up on Sat. July 8th? I would like to come down there perhaps end of July? lemme know.. peace.. Roberto

Blake,

I removed mine afew months ago now after it started rotting and falling apart. No problem with the paint or anything else. I was unsure if it worked as a fire blanket during an engine fire but was told that it's purely sound proofing. I've not noticed any significant noise increase from in the vehicle.

Under the bonnet looks alot cleaner now also.

I am planning on taking mine off as well. If youre worried about noise levels get the Dynamat underhood kit .. thats what I'm gonna do.
