Has anyone found/designed an air deflector for the lr adventure rack? Considering that my truck has the aerodynamics of a brick wall, I would like to make an effort to improve gas milage and lessen the roar (it was baaaaad yesterday due to the windy conditions). Your thoughts and ridicule are welcome.

Jack

I seem to recall a thread where people where using a Yakima size large deflector with good results...

The thread had a picture and everything. Thought I had completed the search but was wrong. Thanks.

Yes it works. I had a loud roar with my LR Adventure rack, then I added 4 Hella's to the front bar. Noice cleared up.

Sweet

What type of lights did you use, and is the blackout tape on the bonnet necessary/preferable?

I was going to atempt to modify a fairing to allow for lights. I may run by REI this weekend.

I have the Hella FF300 Lights. Oval shape, very bright, great lights. Mounted onto the factory mounts on that rack. No kiding, it worked and looks totally awsome, not to mention great light off road at night. I had the same problem driving out of the garage the first time with my new rack. Never ment to do anything about it but after installing lights I noticed no more noise. I would imagine it is the same with any large type light.

If you don't have the cash for lights rights now, you can take eletrical tape and tape the holes in the light tabs. Those holes whistle pretty loud when they don't have a light bolted through them.
