I was a little worried when i decided to replace my PS Pump. Usually when I start working on something it always takes four hours longer than anticipated. Anyway, I started this morning and after replacing the Pump, all hoses, and bleeding the system. It only took me 2 hours. Now there is no more leaks, and no more squealing. Damn i'm good |

It took me a month! Two weeks while rebuilder in CA decided they didn't do it anymore, 1 week of being told they were out of stock, one week to find an overpriced used one, two days to find an M14 x 1.50 metric bottom tap to clear up the factory crossthread on the high pressure hose orifice, one hour to decide not to replace the high pressure hose(how the hell do you get a grip on the flare at the underside of the pump), and 15 minutes to reinstall after the other BS. Sure is nice not having a sand pile to park over in the driveway. I took the old one (105k) and found the main output shaft galled up badly where a few of the cages needle bearings got loose and let the shaft wobble under load so fluid coudl by-pass the seal. Anyone else trying this don't assue a seal kit will do it. Also the output shaft must be removed to get out the snap ring that hold in the main output shaft seal. I still don't know how to get out the diaphram. Look for good used- it,s a surer bet. Also the re-alinement of the steering wheel is not a big deal. Joe |
