What would cause the brake pads to wear down at an angle? Is this normal on a rover? I put on new pads and it would seem that they are rubbing against the rotor without the brake being aplied. I checked the side I have not changed and it seem to be doing the same thing. Who ever owned my disco before me had put tape all over the back of the brake pads before they installed them. Anyone know why some one would do that? I'm feeling kinda dumb today so please forgive me.

They put tape behind the pads in an attempt to reduce/eliminate brake squeal. Why in the world they chose to use tape, and not 'anti-squeal, is utterly beyond me though. If the tape was 'layed down' unevenly, meaning there maybe more tape in one area then another, it may be pushing the brake pad at a slight angle......hence uneven pad wear.
