I just got a 98 disco almost 2 months ago and im dieing to put a lift on it so i can get some bfg mt's on there and go wheelin. Problem is, I don't really know what im looking for. Would it be alright to do a cheap bastard lift and add some coil spacers? and how much lift can i get before i need new brake lines? Anyone have suggestions for a lift?

You can do a couple of inches tops without straining the brake lines (though Rear gets close)
Coil spacers only affect the spring-You still have to address the problem of the shocks which are now extended...
Better off getting either the OME kit or the RN genuine parts/Bilstein kit.
But first you need to decide if you are going to add a winch etc.

I just did a HD OME on my 96 disco and it took about 4 hours to do with air tools. It gave me about 2" of lift and I also put some Dunlop 245 75 R16's which look very nice. I wouldnt want the vehicle any higher. It is exactly 80" tall at the roof rails. The best place to purchase the OME springs and shock is Expedition Exchange. John Lee is very helpfull and it is the best price that I could find. Let me know if you need additional info...Jeff

Do any of you have a really good before - after set of pictures for putting a lift like OME or Bilstien? I have seen these lifts, but never been able to really compare old and new. I want to show my wife just how good, but subtle it will look!!

By the way, I do know that it would probably be worth getting a "real" lift by putting new springs and shock in. Especially if your truck still has the original shocks on it. If you have about 100k they are going to be iffy, especially if you do any towing.
