i just tried to install new spark plugs in my D2 and found that the gap was .042

i bought new plugs at kragens and they told me it was suppose to be .032. the plugs they sold me were actually bigger than the original champion plus already inside the car. i spoke with the salesman and kragens and they insisted that the plugs were correct and that the gap was correct.

i checked the internet for my year and model and they also stated it was .032

so....why were my original factory plugs .042 and how come the newer plugs are bigger....meaning that the lug rachet needed for the new one is larger and the rachet needed for the old one is smaller.

thx

They have sold you the incorrect plugs. The plugs for the D1 had the larger nut and you will probably not be able to get the plug wrench around them after finger tightening.
I really battled to find an aftermarket spares store with the correct plugs. I eventually fitted some NGK BP5 type plugs. I then managed to find the correct champion platinum plug at 1/3 the price of the genuine LR product. The gap was correct out of the box.

Return them for the correct plug.
