just wondering if the subs factory in a 98 have a brand name
i'm bout to sell them on ebay along with the amp and thought it would sound better with a brand name

I think the whole sub unit subs and amp is produced by Harmon Kardon, Harmon International.

Some poor ricer is gonna buy those things thinking he is gonna get some "major bump dude". He will be in for a real suprise when he hooks them up though as I tend to think they kind of suck. What are you replacing them with by the way, it is way far down on my list of future mods but I would like to get a better stereo in there

If you are talking a '98 D1, the sub's in the rear door as well as the rest of the stock stereo system are made by Pioneer. They are pretty cheap and whimpy. Mine blew out a long time ago and I replaced them with some sub's that were on a sale table at a local radio shack store.
Most any aftermarket speaker of equal diameter will work, although you might have to re-locate the sub amp, since decent after speakers will have larger voice coils and magnets that wll take up more space behind the speakers.
