Just out of interest worldwide, lets compare our fuel prices. In UK/England our supermarket pump price per LITRE are $0.50 for diesel and $0.48 for petrol. [£1 is $1.52]. |

Diesel USD$0,27/liter Petrol USD$0,38/liter Argentina prices Diesel prices are growing because there are more and more diesel powered cars, and petrol demand is lower. Greetings |

Looks like i'm paying the most in this list, so far. Diesel $2.876 for one US gallon , if I would be driving a V8 (Yeah right)it would be... Ron 95 $3.671 I'll stick with my TD5 thanks, my annual fuel bill is around $2300. To make it really interesting, how much do you pay for first on road tax, and annual road tax. I paid for my TD5; First on road tax (New car) $840 annual Road tax $750 If you would like a V8, the following picture emerges. First on road tax $5300 Annual road tax $1560 No wonder I never saw a V8 disco yet. These prices are for Belgium if interested. Can anyone beat me ;) Take care Marc |

I reckon the uk conversion is about face, if £1 = $1.52, then @ 72.8p per litre av uk s/market (midlands)price = .728x1.52 = $1.11 us per litre so I reckon uk prices have the tops |

I agree with Merlin's calculation for prices of UK fuel. I just used online conversion and at £0.72 UK per litre it converts to $1.11 US per ltre. to be exact 0.73 British Pound = 1.11529 US $ So unless you pay more, it seems we in the UK are being ripped off, paying the most for fuel. More annoying our North Sea oil is exported and then sold cheaper in 'foreign countries'. |

Marc, we don't pay a road tax every year. We pay taxes on the car when purchased based on the cost of the car, not engine size (each state varies - it's 5% in Maryland). I believe there is a "gas guzzler" tax, but I'm not sure if it's still around. We have to pay a registration fee which is every few years (depending on state, it runs about $100 or so) The guzzler tax is only a couple percent (when new) and only if the vehicle gets very poor mileage. We don't have to pay taxes on the car again. If they decided to tax us like they tax you, there would be a revolution. People here go crazy when gas prices go up by as little as 5 cents. We are spoiled over here. |

Kingfish, jump over the border to Virginia and you do pay property tax every year on your vehicle. There is new legislation (we'll see if it stays) to get rid of the tax on the first $20,000 value of the car. And even with the Virginia property tax on vehicles my overall TAX bill is less than when I lived in MD. Revolt or not. The gas guzzler tax I think only applies to cars. I paid it on my 540i/6 but not on my Disco or X5. |

I envy you guys in the US, All you have to look at is how much HP the engine has, and if it is not enough, pick an even bigger engine. Guess that's the different mentality between the continents, here in Europe driving is still considered a privilege and not a right, like you people in the US see it, Hell even getting a license here costs a fortune (Around $1000). And yes, you guys in the UK definitely pay the most, I have a few colleagues at work who are from the UK, and when they go back to visit, they complain about the fuel prices. Not the mention the ridiculous overpricing you pay on new cars compared to the mainland... my Comiserations ;) Maybe I should migrate to the US.... ;) So I can taste the feeling of driving V8's Best regards Marc |

It's crazy how gas prices change regionally here in the states: June 17 $1.79 / gallon of 94 in Philly June 28 $1.61 / gallon of 93 in Richmond July 2 $1.53 / gallon of 93 in Jacksonville I think the D2 does great as far as MPG. When I road trip, I just set the cruise control to hover around the speed limit and I can pull around 320 - 340 miles per tank. I have the ARB on the front, an adventure rack on top, and I am running Bridgestone 265/70R16s at 40psi. Paul |

Hey Aussie Bros, $AU0.83/Ltr on average, here in South-Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. I use to drive my '96 D1 on unleaded. Between 350 - 380 km per tank. Thats city driving. Filled her up with premium, get 280 - 300 per half tank. Thats just got to be good. Mileage wise anyway. Anyone out there experience any problems with using premium on their Discos. |
