Hi, Is it possible to use the factory installed fog light wiring on a D2 model SD, for a set of aux. lights? I bought a switch, but I am not sure what type connection / wiring to run from the factory wiring to the lights. Thanks, Tom |

I will throw out a second related question. I wired up my 2001 SD with a genuine wire harness from Land Rover (not to be tried by the faint hearted). I hooked up a set of genuine Rover aux lights. All worked well. I changed the 55w bulbs to 100w and blew the fuse. My question is.......has anybody had success with any larger bulbs than the standard 55w? Thanks. |

Tom, if you use the factory for light setup for AUX lights you won't be able to run the aux lights with the highbeams. It's very possible to do if you use a relay, however you'll be running them with your lows. Dave, the genuine LR lights may take the higher wattage bulb. I think the Safari 5000 from LR is just a Hella 3000. But the lens on the Safari LR light I think is a fog light so the higher wattage bulb will be useless. If you still want to do it you might need a relay to get past the problem with the fuse. |

As far as I know you should ba able to use the fog light switch for the aux lights as long as your new lights don't pull more electricity than your old fog lights or the fure will blow. A 55w light pulls less watts that the 100w light and that is why it blows your fuse. I would NOT recommend putting a larger fuse in it as you may burn your wire harness. |
