Well, finally got off my butt and changed the brake pads yesterday. Figured as much, they are still squeaking. Guess I'll look in the archives and see what to do to fix that annoying sound. Has anyone tried Kevlar pads? |

Did you use genuine LR pads or aftermarket? The LR pads have an anti-vibration pad on the backside of the metal plate that some aftermarket pads do not. I used the no anti vibe aftermarket version once and they drove me nuts. I've never had a squeaking using LR genuine. Jeff |

About the Kevlars (( Composites)) I have no squeaking from them, I have used them for years on all my cars This last brake job on my Disco I used the new EBC pads there new composite blends have come along way. At the same time I installed new drilled and slotted rotors, that in it self could eliminated any squeaks. If there is a glaze on your old rotors from semi metallic pads you will have squeaks. Also did you slap some brake grease behind the pads and on the sides in the grove? Perone was right if you live in a area like California Colorado where your always decending grades the LR brakes suck. Drop down from Big Bear fully loaded , oh that smell I also used the Vavloine Synthetic Brake fluid and the to top off my new system i bought from EE a set of SS Paragon Brake hoses. The parts cost retail is not that bad especially from Discount Rovers The pain in the wallet comes from trades when getting new rotors installed 1.5 hr per wheel @ $45 to $75 in our area Also if you bought Mintex good luck. That is why we dont sell Mintex pads anymore to many complaints about them. Dee Cantrell [email protected] DiscountRovers.com |

Hey Discodad, Which rotors did you install? The ATE rotors? How are they? I am due rotors on my next servicing and have been looking at these online. I don't know anyone near me that has them installed on a Land Rover. Thanks, -p |

The rear Lockheeds suck.. I've gone through 3 pairs and they all squeel.. I called Nathan and got a nice pair of organics and now I'm running the organics in the rear and Lockheeds in the front and I am finally squeek free... Joanna did you put any anti-sieze on the back of the brake pad? Helps to keep them quite when rubbing against the calipers |

My pads on both the front and back are Lockheeds, genuine LR sets, and they don't squeak. FWIW... -L |
