I just bought a runningboard for my 95 Disco. I want to adjust the front mudflaps, but i cant take the mudflaps of the brace. I dont know what tool to use for the two screws. I try turning the screws still no luck. Pls let me know how to take it off and what tools to use. Thanks....

you have to drill them out or cut them.

If you haven't cut your mudflaps yet, I have a pair that are already cut for running boards. Let me know if you want to swap.

Mud flaps are useless, and they add weight to the sides of the Discovery, thereby increasing the probability to tip the Disco on side angles.
Moreover, they devalorize the size of your lift and the size of tires you run.
There. Logic.

Enough weight to tip the disco? Thats a little bit of a stretch isn't it? Either yours are made of some hefty plate steel or I'm missing out on the sarcasm.... :)

Although, I've been thinking of removing mine as I think the truck will look better without them and with the larger tires, they really don't stop that much dirt from hitting the side of the truck anyway. On my DII, it looks like they are screwed on though.

i am certain it is sarcasm. i mean i try and balance my weight-to-lager on my truck precisely!! especially when you have just one flap on there. kinda like having one ball.......you tend to walk listing to one side. least that is what i hear. :)

My front mud flaps are cut out for the running boards. Do the running boards compensate for the weight loss or should I add more lager to the front? If I have to carry more lager in the front, where should I put it? The usual place is full and my wife says I should actually get a smaller container.

I've seen the lager Garrett carries around and the size of the bottles dictates a HD suspension all by itself.......... That boy is dangerous with his weight-to-lager ratio..... :)

(yes it was sarcasm)
By the way...lager or not. Those flaps are useless...Why do you want to protect aluminium from chipping, it is not gonna rust anyways, and if you are scared for your paint, wrong hobby.

Oh...... oops...... sorry bout that Garrett. So, you made it back from Florida unscathed it seems.......

Paul is already burning up the flight plan board, so be sure to check your email this morning...

Not sure if my rovertym HD's can hang with those superduties (sounds like a ford), but I'm up for bringing some 40's to Killington myself. They seem like a much better deal than cans, but not as easy to compact the waste....

actually my plan is to snag a keg at the Long Trail Brewery just down the road a piece. it's only about 10 min. down the road. great place to snag some grub too. outdoor patio and all.
heading to Burlington, VT this weekend for the Vermont Brewers Festival.
ugh. all this driving in a D2 is making me tired. just happy it is her truck we have been driving. i never knew Disco's could go over 80!!! wow. :)
yeah FL was good. not my kinda place to vacation (unless we are talking Key West), but Jen wanted to visit some friends and i am always game for a road trip. weather was nice and all and the rover did well. well except when the ABS, traction control and hill decent lights all came on. taking it to Harrisburg LR this week. most likely a bad sensor of something.

That sounds even better. So, should we all just bring cups and money to chip in?

Ok..... hoping Paul would set the record straight, I see I was woefully mistaken. Oh, and regarding the "busting my ass at work?" comment, Yeah right, Paul. I bet you are on a rover website right this minute looking for something......... anything.............. to add to that Disco.......... Maybe some diffguards?????

So, best I can say to both you freaks and your roof racks (mine has a floor too ), bring it on baby...... :) As long as there is plenty of beer for consumption first!

lol......... ok smart ass....... I was just paying tribute to Garrett Porterfield by reading old GPS posts........ specifically yours on your 176. I'm looking at one, but just noticed you got busted for having it on the dash????? What gives?

Apparently there is a Pennsylvania statute that reads:

"Fish Finders are not authorized in motor cars for use on state roads and highways, improved or unimproved. GPS yes, Fish Finders no."

well i initially got pulled over for not having covers on my hellas on the roof and my rear 'work lamps'. but then the yocal officer made some comments about having my GPS unit on while driving. said you were not allowed to have it on while driving on public roads. so of course i had to mention the built in units and rental car units that are everywhere. be just said it was a relatively new law for PA. i could not find it anywhere. but regardless it is fine to have it on the dash, but just not on. i really doubt you have an issue with it anywhere. i mean for him to pull me over for the lights in the first place was pretty lame. so just to make him happy i got another set of lights up there. with covers of course. still have the back ones uncovered and was able to keep those away from the girl inspecting my truck once i got the covers on. she did not think to look in the back. DOH.
but yeah......check out the 176 on Garmins site or just play around a bit with it when i see you in VT in a few weeks. i actually drilled the damn thing into the dash. can be unclipped in a few seconds if need be and takes batteries if you want to carry it around.

ps: i just figured the fishfinder could come in handy during river/water crossings.

lol..... I like it because I do plan to get another boat one of these days and it can do a really nice job in both. Is the color worth the extra $90 bucks? The comments I've read mention it is harder to see in sunlight than the monochrome.

The 176 is not a fish finder by the way, according to the Garmin website. Just a gps and chartplotter.

we just like to call the larger GPS unit fishfinders. but i believe you can hook up sonar to the thing. then you would be kicking it in style. haha
there was someone here with the color version. i just opted not to.......been happy with the mono. especially at night with the backlight on. i feel like jackie chan in cannonball run. now all i need is a talking radar detector. "smokie ahead."

I know that! I was giving Garrett a hard time about the size of the GPS. Why, Because I have GPS size envy :)

lol.....

Actually, my little 76S can also have the sonar/fishfinder hooked up to it, too. Smaller screen, but still quite capable..... Hmmmm.... maybe a new motto for me.... :)

Now, if we could get Garrett to tag along as my co-pilot in the Subaru.....

Nah, I'd rather have Sus as a co-pilot.... :)
