Thanks for all the help all of you guys have given me so far. I do have a few more questions regarding my 94 Disco I though, so please bear w/ me 1) What kind of adverse effects come from a defective catalytic converter(s), i.e., fule economy, rough idling, and the nasty gas odors? 2) When I drive at speed (50-ish) for a couple of minutes and then come to a complete stop, I hear a clunk in the front end...any ideas? 3) Where is the fuel filter located? And do I require any special tools to take it off? 4) Where can I find specs for my car (i.e., fuel/oil capacities, etc.)? 5) Where can I find the best deals on parts, either brick and mortar shops, or internet sites? Thanks for putting up w/ me and my questions! |

1. Don't know much about cat. converters. 2. The clunking may be a number of things. Mine was a bushing on the suspension that had fallen off. Crawl under the front and have someone rock the front end up and down, them zoom in on the sound. 3. The fuel filter is on the inside of the passenger side rear wheel well (between the wheel well and the frame...not in the well). You won't need any special tools, but because of the location, it may be real hard to get off due to mud, corrosion, or whatever. I had to cut mine off and fabricate a new hose section for it, but it wasn't too hard to do. 4. Specs can be found in the owner's manual. You may be able to pick one up at your local dealer. If not, check ebay. There are always some there. 5. The best deals on parts can be found on this site and LRX.com. Just post what you are looking for, or find someone who is parting out their rig. For new parts, try Atlantic British, Rovers North, DAP, Rovertym, or many others. If you have the time, I suggest trying used parts on the message boards, though. Hope this helps. |
