Anyone know a such a head unit?

I've been toying with the idea of replacing the stock radio in my 99 Disco.

Also, wondering what I might be able to get ($$) for my stock if and when I do replace. Should I keep it handy or just sell it?

i replaced my head unit and did not even look for a weather band. you could just get a CD changer and keep the head unit. or buy a CB with weather band. that is what i ended up doing.
i sold my stock unit on EBAY. check around on there and see if there are any currently on there. they will sell from $50 to $100 at least.

Kenwood says they have an optional weather band tuner KTB-WB100, that can be added on to most of their decks, but I have yet to find one. Even Kenwoods site doesn't have anything about it yet even though they list it as an option to many decks.

I take that back. I found the tuner on their site. Now to find someone who stocks it....

I ordered the weather band unit, along with a control box and remote from Crutchfield and finally got it all hooked up.
The Kenwood stuff really works well. I mounted the control unit and weatherband tuner under the pass. seat and then just got two 6' antenna extenstions and ran them to the dash. Works perfectly.
It all runs off of the head unit power (same with the disc changer) so you don't have to worry about finding power.
Kenwood has some really nice set ups and add ons if you are still looking around.

Another option would be to purchase a CB radio with weatherband, if you don't already own one. The WB option is nice but it might limit what you can get in a CD receiver as there isn't much out there.

Jay,
Yes a CB is another option, but to hear that wonderful computerized voice booming through the stereo complete with subwoofer accents......ahhh.....

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding you, or you me. The weatherbandoption that Kenwood offers works with practicly all their decks. Well, at least the ones that can control a changer, which is a lot of them. It's a separate unit from the cd receiver.

FWIW,

I have a Motorola FRS radio, a T6220, that has WB built into it, with multiple channels even....

Keep one of those in the truck, and you're set....

IMHO....
