Other than the mesh flooring, are there any additional differences between a standard LRNA Adventure rack and the Trek version? Also, it looks like the Trek vehicles do not have the factory roof rails. Does that mean they used the low profile Adventure rack?

I'm working on getting a rack through my dealer as part of a trade. I prefer the low profile unit, but can't find a LRNA part number. If someone owns a Trek vehicle and damages their rack, what P/N would be used to get a replacement?

My local dealer is working on trying to find a part number, but their special vehicles book doesn't show that the racks are different. Is it possible that the Trek vehicles used the standard height rack, even though they didn't have the factory rails?

Sorry for the lack of clarification. I'm referring to the DSII Trek vehicles.

Maybe they are using the expedition rack instead of the adventure rack. Tatched roof garage has them for viewing. www.thatchedroofgarage.com

Greg,

I inquired at my dealer about this rack. They did their best to track it down. But apparently LRNA told them they would have to go through the Special Vehicles group, or something like that, if a rack from the TRek vehicle needed to be replaced...

Or it could be the low profile version of the adventure rack.

The rack the D2 TReK trucks use are Safety Devices low profile adventure racks. These are the same as the ones availible here in the states with the exception of the height. They are designed for non-sunroofed trucks with the bagage bars removed. While readily found in the UK you need to special order one in from the UK from a dealership if the parts guy is not too lazy, but they come at a huge mark up. For the D1 version, I was quoated $2100+ if I recall. Keep in mind that was through a dealership. The flooring was done custom done by LRSV before each event. Each years rack flooring is differant also.

Chris,

Got mine patched and painted last week. Looks like brand new. Just need to decide what I'm going to do with the space at the rear now.

Chris, if you could get me the P/N, that would be great. My parts guy called LRNA and they insisted that it's the standard Adventure Rack, which I know it's not. Parts guy also said that they were pretty rude to him and didn't really give a shit about helping him. That's comforting to know! Geeze, glad I didn't call. They probably wouldn't have even talked to me.

Greg, I will try to dig it up tonight. In the meantime, search the archives here and on the D2 Yahoo group. I am almost positive it was posted there at one time and I emailed it to myself.

Greg,

Check with these guys and see if they can get it. They are supposedly the US importer for Safety Devices.

Thanks Greg. I've been talking with David. Thing is, I'm trying to get the LRNA P/N because I'm selling my hot rod project car to a salesguide. The deal includes cash and Rover accessories. If I can get the LRNA P/N, then he can order it through the dealer and it will be part of the deal. ;~)

Chris, I'll do a search and see what I can come up with. Thanks for the info.

Well, I did a search here and on the Yahoo group for "Trek roof rack", and only came up with references to Trek bumpers and Trek style racks. No part number. I'll post on the Yahoo group and see if I get any info there.

I was not able to locate my email with the LR part number. Sorry. You might try emailing a UK dealership for the part number or try another dealership here state side.

Thanks Chris. I really appreciate your efforts. If all else fails, I can still remove my rails and just lower the standard Adv Rack. Just alot of work that I'd like to avoid.

These guys are the US importers for SafetyDevices, and should be able to get hold of a TReK rack for you....

Greg..
Your parts guy is correct. There is no LR part number for the low profile adventure rack for D2's because they are not offered from LR for any D2 since all D2's come with the roof rails which you need to remove to use the low profile rack.

Regarding the TReK discos, warranty issues would still be handled by LRNA who would get a replacement direct from Safety Devices. Since there are less than 30 '99 & '00 D2 TReK trucks, this would not be a huge problem for them to handle the special cases if needed.

So I guess that if a warranty issue or replacement were to arise, LRNA would just order directly from Safety Devices and not bother with having a LR P/N assigned because of the small requirements? Oh well, I guess it's the standard rack for now. Thanks for the efforts, guys.

Just get the guy to order one through his parts dept. I am sure they get a discount.
