Anyone have a good idea as to what the laws are for engine swaps (ie Tdi or 4.6) into a disco?? Just wondering before i go dig into the actual text. i guess i might have to stick with a 4.0...

Chuck,
I have done a CA smog legal swap of a Cadillac 5.7 V8 into a 1987 Wrangler. CARB will allow the swap as long as the motor that is going into your vehicle is newer than the year model of the vehicle receiving the motor. The setup must then go to state run special testing facility. The vehicle must pass a smog, and the computer systems must work the same as the vehile the motor came out of.
