I am thinking of trading my 97 Disco in on a D-90. Any thoughts?
It will be my daily driver.

Greg Only one way to find out, everyones opinion is different.
I have been debating the same issue.
ST Or SW Consider the weather conditions in your area. I here both leak ST more. Cold weather Driving with a ST could be colder.
Going to be Noisy.
road trips can be uncomfotable (compared to a Disco).
It may not be a big issue. Check the insurance rates. Could be higher.
Find someone in your area that has one or where ever you plan to buy it see if they will let you drive it for a day or weekend.
One mans pain is another mans pleasure. So only you can say wether you will like it for a daily driver.
Good luck and hope you find one at a good price not this 30K+ bullshit

Yeah. That's my main obstacle right now.
I have been breaking her in for the past few years, and I have my daughter making "manly" noises whenever we see a D-90.
I think I have her convinced.
It's the old, "Why are they so much more expensive than a Discovery when there is less to them" and, "All you ever do is work on your Land Rover and I have never had any problems with my Honda" arguements that she always brings up.
It has been a long, hard battle.

Trade it in? Heck, give us schmucks who are lurking the opportunity to buy one before you trade it.

Unless of course something is wrong with it.

Although I need to sell my other truck first...

greg,

i had a "little bit" of the D90 envy, and went to the dealer and had a good chance at a 95 soft-top.

but when i realized that i was about to pay the same when the truck was worth BRAND NEW 5 years ago... well, just couldn't do it.

comes down to money really. can you do it? then GO FOR IT! :)

hold off until the new D90's come in and save yourself some major "supply & demand" cash

Sanderskog...you want it?
Runs great. 100,000 miles and going strong. Just had a major tune-up. Had a bad injector, but I replaced it.

If I don't get the D-90, I would plan on keeping it for another 200,000 miles. I am confident it will make it.

Check out my pick in the photo gallery. I have more if you are interested.

Unfortunately I need to sell my truck first. Otherwise it would be a different story.

Thanks,

I'm not sure - isn't it next year (2003 model)?

Gil Stevens or Craig Highland (dealers) (good dealers :)) should step into this thread.

I have 2 DI's and one 1997 D90. Everday driving I would diffently choose the Disco. The Defender feels like your driving a bus with that huge steering wheel. The wind noise can get pretty bad on the highway and sometimes you get water inside when it rains. I also dont like the where the radio is, pain in the ass to drive and work the radio. As for its abilities, you probably already know. The six passenger seating is nice, but dont plan on fitting for adults in the back seats. All in all, its very addicting to drive a 90 but I would choose the Disco for everyday use. If your your anywhere near NJ or PA feel free to let me know if you want to take it for a drive.

What kind of mileage does the D-90 get compared to the Disco

Same but has a smaller gas tank. Of course, if you fit it with a TDI, then you more than double the MPG up to 28. The tank is the same andgoes over 400 miles.

I've owned 3 D90's now. I always think I want another one until I get one. I used to move my D90 out of the way so that I could drive my Disco. The seats are brutal for anything other than a short commute. The A/C keeps your knees fairly comfortable unless it is over 90 deg. The driving position is terrible. With the top on it is prone to induce claustrophobia (sp?) and deafness. Top off it is a 3-4 month a year vehicle where I live. Good luck but my advice is to spend some serious time in one.
