Okay Guys and girls, Truck is running fine one day, than the next it is missing on three cylinders. No Power, shaking like its going to fall apart. Oddly enough, if given full throttle it smoothes out for a few seconds, then back to missing, and no power. Check engine light is on for the Misfires, but here is the next question. Every once in awhile the check engine light starts flashing. It will flash for 15-20 seconds, and the truck smoothes right out and runs great while its flashing?? What does a flashing check engine light mean?? Any thoughts in general? The Truck has relatively new Magancore wires, and they all appear to be tight. Thanks |

PULL OVER!!! The flashing check engine light is bad news. When the problem is not so serious, the light just stays on and does not flash. You need to call a tow-truck... Sorry I'm not of much diag help, but just wanted you to know not to drive it.... Craig |

Given that the light only flashes for 15-20 seconds, and that the engine runs smooth, without misfiring during this time, I find it hard to believe that flashing means pull over and get me towed. It almost seems more like it indicates that the system is running in a limp home mode, at predetermined defaults for things like ignition timing and MAF input. I dunno, mechanic has it, and we'll see what the codes say, was just curious what the flashing light actually means.... |
