Do any of you have good before and after lift photos for a Discovery I? (OME or Bilstien etc...) I will be getting a suspention upgrade this summer sometime, but I really want to sell the last little bit to my wife before spending $500+

its a Classic Range and a very new one.
2" Lift and 235/85R16 tires on the Classic.
Not my car, and only a "after" photo.

I have the OME 2" HDs front and rear. After putting the lift, I put Futura M/T 235/85R16 (which according to the conversion, it's about 31.7"). Here are the pics.

before
after

And just to give you an idea what the difference on the tires vs stock, check out this photo

If you have any other questions, post on!

Do you have any fender issues with those tires?

MrBailey,

I'm assuming that you are asking me that question. No, after the trimming. I had to trim the rear fender a little bit. Not noticable at all. I had no problems with the front since I took the airdam off and cut the end caps to fit the "slimmer" bumper. Some people can get away without trimming if you "tuck" it in... I believe this is known as the KVT method . (Kyle you should have that patented).

Glen,
How do you like your OME's? Did you get both springs and shocks? Hows the ride? Why did you go with HD vs MD?

thx

chris

Chris,

I started with the springs and tires and ran the stock shocks til present day. I did however recently ordered the OME shocks but haven't had a chance to install them. I've had this setup for about 10K miles now and can't complain. I went with the HD's since I travel "heavy" most of the times. They really are heavy duties. I drove 9 hours to Maine with tons of camping crap, tools, cooler filled with ice, water, etc. and it barely sagged. Others here drive them coast to coast and they are happy with them. The ride is better than stock until I took off my rear sway bar - 70 mph is scary with that thing off. I do have less articulation than the MD's but as I've learned, articulation isn't everything

Talk to John or Ho at EE. They are great guys and would steer you in the right direction...

Thanks, Glenn. I am probably going with the OME's all the way. But will look at the price difference between them and the Rover Springs with Bilstien Shocks. I may try to buy the springs from the dealer if they are cheaper without shipping.

Also, I just put Parabolics on my IIa with OME shocks, so that will do me for a few weeks before I start looking at my leaning Disco...

Hey Glenn,

John here, you know the guy... LOL I took off my rear sway bar a couple of weeks ago and I hardly noticed a difference even at speed. I think the Woodchucks(OEM) may have had something to do with your "Scary" ride coming home from Maine. That, and I believe your wife was driving LOL! Don't tell her I said that! LOL I love my Billies, they rock! I can't wait to take the disco offroad since I removed the rear sway, and rip my rear brake lines off with the extra travel I'm gonna get! LOL Hey, how's your truck running? Did it recover from the U-Boat Experience? Hope all is well and hope to see/wheel with ya soon.

Not for long Blake, OME's are on their way. Will be on next weekend. When are you going back to school? I'd like to run down there one weekend on a Sat or Sun and hit a couple of trails. BTW, your truck looks great, I hadn't seen those updated pics with the swampers.. Kick ass.. Later.. Rob

John... How the heck are you man?! Been awhile since I heard from ya! Still dining on those leftover hotdogs? Pearl has been running fine, thanks for asking. She just had to shake the mud off it's system and she's back on track. Glad to hear that you finally took your swaybars off, you'll be surprise as to how much more flex you'll have with that thing off.

Chris, I'm hoping to install my shocks next weekend along with other 60K crap...
