I am waiting for a shop manual but would love to replace the shift plate cover- the plastic one with the P R D 3 2 1 that's backlite. I don't see this as possible without removing the top of the shift handle and I see no set screw or other here. Suggestions or experience? Joe |

I have a 1999 Disco that I made the same repair to last year. I changed mine in less than 2 hours. You have to remove the whole center tunnel. There are screws everywhere that you have remove. The piece is huge and you have to move the seats multiple times to get it out. Getting it back in I got frustrated...that plastic will bend and bend. (don't recommend with cold plastic) Anyway when you get the part it will make sense. The plate itself is only held on with 4 screws... Good Luck Joe |

Thanks to Joe and Bryan! Mission accomplished. It really gives that finshed look. Funny my wife couldn't find the seat belt receiver when I got thru! (HA Ha). Quick recovery as I unbolted the receiver and after loosing the two screws in the console (one of these has never had a nut plate) I pulled it out and now all's well. Thanks again! Joe |
