I just finished putting an expanded steel floor on my expedition roof rack. Does anyone have any good ideas for fastening ratchet straps to the floor? I was thinking about using small carabeaners or something like that to attach the straps to. I know I can cut holes at the cross members but I'd rather not unless I don't come up with a good option. Thanks! Neal |

One idea might be to fasten some u-bolts throught the flooring so the rounded part is up. A pack at the hardware store had a u-bolt and the flat peice and 2 nuts. Get more nuts for each one and put 2 nuts on each thread and tighten them togeather really tight. This locks them from coming off and falling apart. When you want to use them they pull up and act as a tie down and when not in use they fall down kinda flat with the floor and out of the way. if this is all confusing send me an email and I will send pictures or something. This works really well for me. |

Thanks Eric. I actually bought 8 of those key-chain style carabeaners last night and they fit well. I was concerned that they wouldn't hook through the floor but there is just enough room. |
