Got about 30K on my 2000 DII and notice on the last trip (600 miles) it burned up about a quart - was definitely low. Anyone else have this experience - do the DII have valve problems like the older Discos. I have a friend that works for a Land Rover dealership who claims that even the new ones have valve problems - |

My '00 had the exhaust valves replaced at 30K service. There were having problems with the valve stem tolerances, I think. The least little bit of carbon build-up would cause the valves to stick. Never heard of any problems about burning oil though. Definitely NOT normal. |

My 99 D2 had the rockers rebuilt on both sides @ 5,000 miles. It was making more valve train noise...sounded like a diesel in there. everything has been fine (knocking on wood) since. We're upto 35,000 miles. |

I had all the rockers replaced and the noise is better, but I do need to keep an eye on the oil. Your problem seems very possible; oil burning at the valve stems has been my suspicion. "01 Disco II |
