My service rep tells me there are no MAFs around and apparently I need one. Also, LR will not commit to a ship date. I'm checking with Nathan and AB now, but anyone know of someone who might have one.

Nathan told me about a company in Cali. that will rebuild your MAF (48 hour turn-around depending on your shipping preference) in the $325 range. Dee Cantrell might know something about this place as well. Do a search to find his email, I thik it's [email protected] (not sure though). BTW, what is wrong with your MAF?

Thanks Bryan,
Well, not sure. Supposedly it's intermittent, causing service engine light and strange shifting behavior on my AT (Though the dealer hasn't been able to repro this behavior). They contacted LRNA as they've never seen this stuff before and LRNA recommended MAF replacement even though it's testing out okay. I don't have the codes yet, but I know one of them is P0734, invalid 4th gear ratio and another one is 0335 or 335 something?

The good news is that I'm "logged" so that if my warranty runs out before the part comes in, I'll still get it "free". In the back of my head, I'm suspicious of the AT, though the symptoms have been very sporadic.

Just a stab in the dark, but are you running a K&N filter? I read somewhere that LRNA had a service bulletin that said the oil from a K&N f@#$S up the MAF sensors and that LRNA wouldn't warranty your MAF if you had one installed.....could be just a rumor. My 95 DI was just in the shop for some sporadic behavior, the mechanic said the MAF sensor was caked with oil from my K&N. He cleaned it up and said things ran better, looks like I may be going back to paper filters.

Ah, the dreaded K&N filter debacle. :) Naw, not lately. About a year ago, I ran a K&N for about a week but I took it out because we live on a dusty road and I got paranoid, been running OEM paper at all other times. These symptoms I've been getting started about a month or so ago, strangely enough, after a couple of very deep water crossings...hmmmmm.

Just out of curiousity, how would one clean off the MAF, and exactly where would I find the thing. I've been running a KN filter for about a year now and while I enjoy all the admiring glances that my little "KN" sticker gets me from the ladies (or not) I would like to check and see if it is causing a problem with my MAF.
Thanks,
justin
